Classic American is right on!!! Glad to see the addition to LaPine. Remodel works. Great menu and prices. Friendly fast service. Clean and overall good experience. Don't miss this spot if you live in town or are just passing through!

Ordered 1/2 order of biscuit and gravy and a side of bacon. Best breakfast in the county. Beats the overpriced Bend restaurants. So so good.

First, remember you are in La Pine, Oregon. The food is solid "road food". Like most people, we were on the road to somewhere else and wanted quick eats, but not fast food. The turkey melt had real turkey and crisp bacon. Big hit with our 6th grader. The Caesar salad with chicken was a hit too. I enjoyed the roast beef sandwich . Sugar Pine also has a fun cowboy decor and the owners are clearly out to satisfy the travelers with nice clean bathrooms. We'll be back to try breakfast on the next road trip.

Great breakfast in a clean friendly environment. This will be a regular breakfast stop for us. The food is great but the service tops the experience off. Great job, thank you!!

Service was a bit slow as the waitress seemed busier than usual, however it was very friendly and the food was shockingly good for a small town diner. If you need a bite and are driving through la pine I would recommend this place.

I've eaten many a chicken fried steak in my life and this was a Top 3 contender. Nice clean diner in the middle of no where. Great friendly staff, hot coffee and reasonable prices in this era of rising food costs.

This was our first time eating here, the waitress was sweet, but we did not get silverware until a few minutes after the meal was served, bacon was VERY overdone. Hubs specifically asked for gravy on his order, but that didn't happen. I ordered the fish and chips, however the fish was TERRIBLE. Dry and very dark batter. It could have used a couple less minutes in the fryer. We weren't asked how the food tasted, or the waitress probably would have noticed I hadn't eaten any more of my fish. (The fries were perfect though.) no refills were offered either, which was a bummer for the kids. I think 2 stars is too low, and 3 is too high.

Rollin' through La Pine and Yelp pretty much said "Stop here for lunch." (Well, not 'actually' said, but the reviews looked promising so we'll pretend.) Busy-busy joint on a Sunday at 2pm. We took the last little table in the back corner - big mistake by the way. Should've joined the solo guy at the front counter with his darling service dog! What happened was that we were forgotten, for a loooooong time. But the waitress was so darn darling and flustered that my husband full out lied to her about waiting a looooooong time. (He's sweet that way.) The only reason I mention this is that another table waited half as long and got a HUGE apology from the owner and some freebies. Turkey Melt is kickin'. Lots to thick tender turkey and a good amount of bacon. Onion rings were an upsell and were just okay. Not bad or anything, just squishy with no crunch. Great beer-y flavor though. Yee Haw Burger was obviously hand-formed grass-fed beef. Perfectly cooked and lumpy! Lumpy = hand-formed ya know. Originally my burger came out wrong but she ran it back and got what I wanted. Although I had to chuckle because when she set down Plate Attempt #2 there were about 8 'tater barrels' (aka tots) rolling around. My odd eyebrow raise was noticed and she promised that more were on the way. And they arrived in short order so no harm, no foul. Darn impressed with our meal. Service wasn't on point but they were really trying hard and were super pleasant. That means a lot and covers up the missteps mostly. Oh, and you can't beat the price. Two full meals, one with a ring upgrade, one grass-fed moo = $21 pre-tip. And we were full. I'll be back. And next time it's the BOTTOMLESS Root beer Float for $5. BOTTOMLESS!!!

We were staying on the Little Deschutes and had breakfast twice at the Sugar Pine Cafe on highway 97. It is really cute and has wonderful breakfasts. Large servings, fast and friendly service and excellent food. The biscuits and gravy is yummy and huge. You won't be able to finish it! The decor is Western and nicely done. Restaurant is spotless, including the bathrooms. The owner obviously really cares and it shows! Go there to get basic American food with reasonable prices.

Refreshing! Currently the best food in La Pine. Fresh ingredients and prepared nicely. The new owner has made so many great changes to this diner. Clean and tidy!

Modest little restaurant but friendly and clean. Breakfast was pretty good as far as breakfast goes. The waitress got my order wrong and brought me french toast instead of potatoes...oh well. What we WERE served was cooked perfectly - especially the eggs. The omelet was full of fabulous fresh vegetables. I would definitely do it again if I'm in that neck of the woods.

Excellent service, fantastic menu, and food rocks. Thanks Yelp for this score. Out here, you could get anything, but this was amazing!

Cute little restaurant with great, friendly staff and delicious food! Doesn't take too long to get food, even if its busy. My favorites are biscuits and gravy, and the Crane Prairie Reservoir sandwich. Definitely a good breakfast stop on your way out of town, or nice lunch during a vacation.

We passed over a lot of other diners on our way up US-97 into Bend, Oregon, but saw very positive reviews on Yelp about the Sugar Pine Cafe. It was mid-afternoon on a Saturday in June, so we suppressed our usual filter of eating "only at places where it's hard to find a parking spot." We were not disappointed. The service was awesome, even if it helped that there were only around five tables filled in the restaurant, our server was great - pleasant, attentive, smiling, etc. And the food was incredible. Of the four of us, we got three hamburgers - all fresh ingredients. The burgers were loaded with ripe tomatoes, crisp green lettuce, good quality cheese, perfectly cooked beef and bacon. Even the buns were outstanding and added to the overall quality of the sandwiches. I highly recommend the Jalapeno Jack Burger. And my wife got the Chile Relleno Omelet, which was perfectly cooked - the texture of the eggs contrasted with the chiles, and full of flavor. Again, fresh!! We also split an order of Biscuits and Gravy, I mean, how could you pass that up at a roadside restaurant?! They were fantastic. If you're headed North on US-97 in Oregon and thinking you should wait till Bend for some good grub, don't. Hit the Sugar Pine Cafe instead.

That was surprisingly very tasty. Even the tater tots weren't greasy, and the fruit cups were real, fresh fruit!

Great service, home made food. The only place I have ever had real corn beef hash. The bacon is incredible too!

Yummy food and good service. Plus you can sub a grilled chicken breast for any burger! Prices are reasonable too.

Dad's Favorite Place in town... and now it has become mine during my two month stay. Cozy, casual, comfortable. Fabulous Food! Very friendly service. Breakfast is always great and the sandwich selection is worth a return to try them out. I will definitely be back for more!!! This place has definitely improved since the new owners took over about two years ago. Thanks Paula!!!

Burgers are our way to gauge a restaurant.. Very small piece of overcooked meat, served with three romaine lettuce RIBS. Not great. Other food we've eaten here has been quite good for a typical diner. However, the recent décor "improvements" are anything but. Inside is small and looks smaller with very dark burgundy color paint. Burlap window coverings were all closed and makes it downright gloomy inside. The server was prompt but not at all friendly or welcoming. And her wait attire was completely inappropriate....a pair of gym shorts! We're locals and know repeat business is important. Hope some changes are made soon.

We ate breakfast here on our way from Bend back to California. The place is not fancy and the chairs look like they were recycled from a hotel conference room. The waitress was friendly and seemed to know a lot of the customers who came in. The food was delicious! My husband had a bad pancake experience a few days earlier and this totally made up for it. The pancakes were pretty big and were moist and fluffy. He said the bacon was the perfect amount of crisp and chew without being too greasy. I ordered the "lighter breakfast" which was still huge. I had two scrambled eggs (they were okay but since when is a scrambled egg something to write home about), hash browns and a biscuit with gravy. The hash browns were huge! I could only eat half but they were good. The biscuit... OMG the biscuit. It was too good. I could live off of those biscuits for the rest of my life. Overall, this is a great place for breakfast if you are near La Pine.

Stopped by for lunch. This place is packed. They have only a few tables and single spots at the counter. Sandwiches were all very good. Fresh ingredients. Nice presentation. Our waitress was nice, very friendly and offered attentive service. but getting our food took a long while. She was the only waitress working the lunch crowd. Sad to hear about the disgruntled employee. I did check the restaurant scores and their scores are in the ok range 92 this year and a low of 78 a year ago. Overall we had a good experience

We found this place on yelp as we were passing through La Pine. We were promptly seated and served and our food was delicious! My mom and I had pancakes, mine with blueberries, and we both thought they were excellent.... My mom even said they were the best she'd ever had. My dad loved his kielbasa and hash browns and our friends enjoyed the turkey sandwiches. The chef even came out to say hello. Overall, it was a great stop with nice service and delicious food. We would definitely recommend.

Decent place for a quick home type cooked breakfast. Four of us ate here. For me the french toast was nicely prepared and even decorated in a flower design.... Nice touch. My family's omelette was good, but the home fries tasted three days old. The service was good. Portion sizes were perfect. I would return again.

Good stick-to-your ribs breakfast for those on the haul towards/from Klamath Lake. HUGE plates, and the standard country fare of gravy, country-fried steak, and the like. Totally a diner, but the best bet around (and there's not much around). Welcoming, friendly vibe, lots of grizzled regulars at the counter.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way north. I had the special of a biscuit with gravy, two eggs, and two pieces of bacon for about $6. It was quite good. My wife had an omelet, which was good but she did not especially like the cheese they used--it was a little "plasticey" in texture. Our server was very friendly. We prefer to stop at these kinds of local places when we're traveling as much as possible.

If you're looking for a awesome diner to stop at during your travels, this place was great. Huge plates of inexpensive breakfast food. Yummy biscuit & friendly, quick service. It was exactly what we were looking for!

Stopped by on the 4th of July and they were busy as could be! The service was great and so was the food! The owner was awesome and even gave me a doggy dish for my dog waiting out in the car. I'll be stopping by every time I go through LaPine now.

Friendly service. Lunch food is decent though not great. Portion are not very big and prices are a bit high. E.g. ~$10 for a turkey sandwich.

As much as I love eating healthy at home that ends every time I'm on the road. Though it's listed at one cash sign, most of the breakfast items were around 10.50 or more. Not wanting to spend over 20 bucks on breakfast, my girlfriend and I opted for the breakfast sandwich. It was a fried egg, bacon and cheese on a croissant. Served with a fairly large helping of hashbrowns. It was only 6.50 and was more than enough food for one person. It has an awesome 'classic' dinner feel, including awesome friendly service. Whether you're on a long bike ride or driving through, this is a good spot for breakfast.
